As the season changes and we’re heading into colder days and nights, I reached towards the back of my workout drawer to find my trusted full-length running leggings from Acai Outdoorwear. I’ve not written about my favourite pieces before, but that’s changing!

A little context…

I’ve run for over 20 years, on and off. My longest distance is 10k, so the leggings I will talk about haven’t been put through marathons but have kept me warm during my many 5ks. I live in a little village in Derbyshire, so I am by no means afraid of cold, blustery weather outside. I’ve often run in rain and snow wearing my leggings, which are showing no signs whatsoever of ageing or needing replacing.

My go-to warm leggings are…

They are from Acai Outdoorwear and are called Thermal Outdoor Leggings. I bought them for £45 back in 2019, and they look/feel new. They aren’t showing any signs of ageing or needing replacing.

Comfort and fit

I bought size 14, L. I’m 5’8 in height, and they fit me perfectly, although I would prefer another inch in length (but they don’t look too short).

Ignore the photo (it’s an example of a stretch that’s helped my shin splints!) This is to show you the length

I haven’t worn them for longer than a 10k, so I can’t say how well they’d cope. I’ve never had inner-thigh chafe or any rubbing, even when drenched in heavy rain.

For this reason, they’ve purposely been made without an inseam on the inner leg.

I like to wear these leggings even when it’s warm because they don’t make me hot. I’m very sensitive to temperature and hate feeling restricted when I’m running, but these don’t make me feel hot and clammy. That said, if it’s warm and sunny, I’d opt for shorts (they aren’t THAT good!).

The leggings have a stretchy, non-slip waistband, which is comfy but, most importantly, keeps my belly restricted so it doesn’t stick out. Some leggings I’ve tried are tight above the belly button, making my small podge below my belly button look even worse. These do the opposite.

Going for a run in snow…. as you do! The Acai Outdoorwear leggings keep my legs dry even in rain, and fit me in height (I’m 5’8 and struggle)

They are slightly too big on my waist, which normally happens to me with trousers/pants etc. I am a larger size in trousers than tops, but it’s fine. It doesn’t annoy me as it gives me breathing room especially on those weeks in a month when I’m bloated.

Fabric and Material

They’re made with 79% Polyester and 21% Elastane, which helps them dry quickly, keep warm, or stay cool.

I run in the rain often, and these leggings don’t hold onto too much water. They get damp, but not enough so I can feel it on my skin (only to the touch). They’re the opposite of the cotton leggings I wear around the house; one sprinkle of rain putting something in the wheelie bin outside makes me need to change.

Are they squat-proof?

They’re stretchy, which makes my curves happy. You can’t see a panty line—they are thick enough to hide it, and I can confirm they’re squat-proof!

I can also confirm that you can’t see cellulite through them (this is often the case in so many I’ve tried!).

The pocket!

They come with a pocket on the thigh, which fits my Samsung s22 plus (without a case). I usually use it for my car and house keys. Very handy if you need somewhere on your person to carry something like this.

How much are they?

They are £69, which doesn’t meet the minimum spend for free delivery (which is £95), so delivery is £3.95. Make sure to sign up to their newsletter, as they offer discounts. Also, check out their social media accounts, as you might find a discount code somewhere.

When writing this blog, the Charcoal version of the leggings I have is half-price!

If you want to buy from Acai Outdoorwear, use my ‘friends and fam’ discount code, and you’ll get £10 off (min spend: £50). Enter your email, and they’ll send you a code. I will also get £10 off!

What options are there?

You can choose out of 8 colours (mine are black) and different lengths: 7/8 or full length.

If you don’t want warm leggings, they have many different types of leggings to choose from. From outdoor leggings that are waterproof, to softshell and ones you’d wear to the shops.

What else does Acai Outdoorwear sell?

As you’d expect, lots of ourdoors-y things from coats, socks, trousers to jackets and shackets.

Now it’s coming into colder days, I have my eyes on these:

Why would I recommend Acai Outdoorwear?

Well, first off, my leggings aren’t showing ANY signs of ageing despite being 5, nearly 6 years old.

I like that I can run in the rain and won’t feel the wet on my legs.

I like how inclusive they are of both their pictures on-site (they show what the products look like on curvy models) and their tall section, which I always need and am very thankful for.

They also have sales and an outlet, which at the time of writing has my leggings at £39 for the charcoal colour!
