Buying glasses online felt a bit risky. I’ve always tried mine on in-store and bought from Specsavers. The idea of entering my prescription, picking a frame from photos, and hoping for the best? A little nerve-wracking. But I kept seeing Firmoo pop-up with nice frames at a fraction of the usual price (£100+ in Specsavers), so I eventually gave it a go.

I’m now on my 4th pair.

In this post, I’m sharing my full experience with Firmoo—from putting in my prescription, choosing the frames, to how they arrived, how they fit, and whether I’d order again.

My latest glasses! I love them. They’re very light and seem to be trendy at the mo too!

If you’re wondering whether Firmoo is legit or how the quality compares to in-store glasses, I’m now on my 4th pair which should help you decide. This isn’t from them breaking; it’s literally me wanting new ones every few years to try a different design!

Are Firmoo legit?

With any website these days, it’s best to check if they’re legit especially when handing over money. They have 51k followers on Instagram & 37k on Tiktok, but we know that can mean very little. I did all my due diligence when I first bought from them, over 3 years ago, and have bought four pairs so far – all prescription and all perfect.

There are 5k reviews on Trustpilot with a score of 4.3/5 and multiple reddit holes with reviews too.

Firmoo are based in China and this is where deliveries are from, but they seem to have HQs in UK/NY (from what I’ve found). They’re an international company that ships worldwide and has a presence in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and other countries.

Delivery: My last delivery took 24 days from ordering to arriving. I had daily tracking updates.

See firmoo.co.uk here.

How does buying from Firmoo work?

I’ve bought prescription glasses from Firmoo, but they also offer non-prescription lenses, sunglasses, and blue light glasses. You can customise your lenses with optional extras like blue-light blocking, tint, photochromic, or polarised coatings (although these are extras so cost more).

Their virtual try-on tool lets you upload a photo or use your webcam to see how frames might look on your face. I’ve used it before and while it’s not super accurate (because it’s not real-time), it’s still useful for narrowing down styles.

The ordering process is straightforward. You pick a frame, enter your prescription (they guide you through it – info on that below), and choose any lens upgrades you want.

Once ordered, the glasses are made and posted to you, with regular delivery tracking updates.

What I like about Firmoo is that their FAQs section is huge. They help you figure out how to enter your prescription, find the best frame shape for you, how to adjust the frames, how to measure the frames, and so much more.

My prescription: what I ordered and why

I get free eye tests through my job and usually go to Specsavers. They give me a prescription card, which is exactly what I use when ordering from Firmoo. The information is easy to enter online, but I’d recommend triple-checking everything before you submit. A small typo could make a big difference in how your glasses help you see!

Adding your prescription looks scary but just take it one field at a time. All you’ve got to do is match what’s on your latest prescription. These are the fields required on Firmoo:

The last one, PD is a measurement you’ll take yourself by measuring the distance between your two pupils.

This is an example Specsavers prescription. You can see that although the information is cramped together, it matches the fields needed on Firmoo:

On Firmoo you can save your prescription too, so if you want more glasses before your prescription changes, you can simply choose it when you’re going through the online order.

If you want to know more about PD, how to read your PD, or how to read your prescription, see the Firmoo FAQs.

Prices – how much are they?

Prices are on average (from looking at Firmoo’s 2 for 1 page) £23-27 – with a few £30 ones.

They start off very cheap (some as low as a fiver) but the price quickly adds up (I’m a prime example!) with add-ons and extras.

The glasses I’ve chosen have always been around £30 but with add-ons they’re generally around £45-50. I’ll talk through add-ons below.

Offers – I haven’t taken advantage of an offer, but one of my colleagues regularly buys the 2 for 1 deal. She likes glasses to match her outfits so has several pairs with the same prescription.

I’d suggest to always look around for discounts as you’ll usually find one.

My latest glasses

The differences between my last two pairs are the size and that the smaller/lighter ones came with nose pads (that I didn’t realise). I adjusted the nose pads and I’ll explain how below.

My 4th pair below, bought in 2025 are prescription glasses. MT77989 advertised as £24. My final price was £52, including a discount and £5 delivery. This included the glasses and several add-ons:

  • Blue-Light Blocking Daily Use + £14.00
  • COATINGS: Advanced Coatings + £9.00
  • Add-ons: Grey Clip-ons + 1 x £5.00
  • Add-ons: Night driving clip-ons + 1 x £5.00

My previous pair are bigger and doesn’t come with nose pads, but has them built into the plastic. They are great for online calls if you want to hide your tired/black under eyes!

What do the add-ons mean?

Firmoo FAQs explain the below here: Firmoo add-ons FAQs >

Blue-light blocking, Daily Use

Block Ratio 25%, clear lens, for everyday use with digital devices. The lenses are 1.56 index and blue-light blocking, including anti-scratch, Anti-Reflective/Anti-radiation and UV coatings. Recommended for spherical power of +1.00~+2.00/-1.00~-3.00 or below, and cylindrical power of +/-3.00 or below.

I always get this added on as I use a computer all day. It helps with screen glare.

Water-Resistant Coating

Super Hydrophobic coatings have all the properties of a regular AR coating, plus the added benefit of a water resistant coating that repels dirt and water, and is easier to clean. It also reduces light reflections.

I got this to reduce light reflection, although it’s the first time I got it and probably didn’t need it.

Clip-ons

I chose grey clip-ons for when I’m driving in the sun, and night-driving clip-ons to reduce glare and reflections.

Polarized yellow clip-ons can improve your night vision, reduce glare and reflections, and sharpen your eye sight. Perfect for night driving, clip it over prescription glasses to improve night driving visual, allow you driving much safer.

Night driving clip-on explanation from the Firmoo site

Did I need all of these? No. Did I succumb to marketing when ordering? Absolutely. Have I used the clip-ons yet? Absolutely not.

Have a read on the Firmoo website for extra details about the above.

Sun clip-ons

I bought these at the same time as the glasses so they were sized correctly. I don’t know if it’s the shape of the glasses, but I don’t like them at all. Maybe if I was driving home from work on my own I’d wear them, but they look pretty terrible. The clip in the middle is huge.

I look like a temu version of Morpheus.

My 4th pair are the smallest I've bought and I decided to buy the clip-ons for the sun. Wouldn't recommend

Choosing the right frames (and using the virtual try-on) for your face shape

The website makes it easy to shop by filtering frame shape, colour, size, and material. I used the virtual try-on tool (via webcam and uploaded photo), which helped rule out a few styles that looked better on the model than on me. It’s not perfect, but it’s better than guessing.

Each product page includes handy info on:

  • Recommended face shapes – there’s an FAQ about that!
  • Full frame dimensions (bridge, lens width/height, arm length)
  • Frame weight
  • Measuring guide to check if you need small, medium, or large frames (each pair of glasses is labelled with wither S M or L)
  • With popular glasses, there tends to be lots of reviews with photos. It gives you a good indication on what face shape looks good.

Included with every order:

  • Scratch-resistant lens coating (free)
  • 60-day returns and exchanges
  • 365-day warranty on frames and lenses

I’ve personally never had to return a pair, so I can’t speak to that process, but it’s good to know the option is there.

Face shape frame suggestions

  • Round face – best frames are rectangular, cat-eye
  • Oval – any shape works but avoid very large
  • Square – round or oval, cat-eye
  • Heart – oval, round, thin, rimless
  • Diamond – oval, rimless, cat-eye
  • Or ignore the above and just get what you bloody well feel like 🙂

See Firmoo’s FAQs on face shapes here. Specsavers also has a handy page here: Specsavers glasses to suit your face

My tips from having bought four pairs

Delivery – make sure you are happy with the slower delivery. Mine took 24 days to arrive. Timescales are all over their website so this shouldn’t be a shock if you check before ordering.

Addons – read about each one to see which one suits you.

Plastic vs metal nose pads:

My latest pair are the smallest and is my only pair not to have the nose pads built into the glasses. I didn’t realise this when ordering, and it’s taken some adjusting to get them to sit comfortably on my nose.

I wanted my new pair to be smaller, as I saw some women I follow on social media wearing them and thought they looked lovely. They’re a different style from my usual and I wanted to change things up a little. Whilst they’ve arrived and I really like them, as mentioned above, it took some time to get them to feel comfortable.

Larger glasses tend to be heavier, so the nose pads are built into the frame. Smaller glasses aren’t, and come with metal/plastic pads screwed on.

Adjusting the nose pads

My latest pair that came didn’t fit well due to the nose pads sitting too far from the glasses, making them sit at an odd angle on my nose. I had to move the pads closer to the glasses, which meant flattening them. Not something I’d done before! After going down reddit holes, I had to heat up the pads with my hair dryer (so the metal would be easier to manipulate) then flatten them for a few hours with a dumbbell from my gym! I used a 2.5kg flat plate – not enough to break the glasses but enough to alter the position of the metal & nose pads for good. I also made sure to put cloth down on the table, as the glasses were touching it, otherwise it might have caused scratches.

This sounds like a dodgy DIY episode but it worked! The middle part was flattened enough that the nose pads sit more against the glasses, making them sit nearer to my face and therefore more comfortable. They haven’t moved and, several months on, are still comfortable.

What’s the case like?

It’s pretty standard and slightly smaller (and not as nice) as my old Specsavers case.

Firmoo case compared with a Specsavers case

How long does Firmoo delivery take?

As I’ve mentioned it has taken 24 days to deliver to me in the UK with standard delivery (you can choose Express for a higher cost). Other delivery timescales are all mentioned on their website for standard delivery are as follows:

  • UK 13-22 days
  • USA 9-21 days
  • Canada 13-22 days
  • Australia 8-14

The list of countries is huge: see Firmoo delivery timescales per country
